Giacomo Peirano arrived in San Francisco in 1879 from Genoa, Italy. In 1881, he began farming in Lodi, and year by year he gained a place for himself, pioneering vineyard and orchard development. Planted in the early 1800s, Peirano Estate was one of the first vineyards in Lodi. Located in the heart of the Lodi Appellation, the 300 acre estate boasts plantings of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and several other varietals. Expect power and pure fruit in these gems from Lodi.

Cabernet Sauvignon, 2007

The rich, dark color of this wine catches you from the first pour. It exhibits a rich deep burgundy hue with perfect clarity. The aromas are a compendium of rootbeer, blackberry, black raspberry, and currant - with elements of toasty oak, chocolate, dark roasted coffee bean, sage and spices. A sip fills the mouth with blackberry pie, with hints of rich, ripe black cherries, sweet oak and white pepper, while maintaining absolute dryness and firm, yet supple, tannins.
