D'Aragon
Cariñena, Spain /
avantiwines.com
The wine region known as D.O. Cariñena is one of the oldest appellations in Spain created in 1932 and
it is believed to be the native homeland of the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Legend in the region has it
that back in the Middle Ages when evil Dragons roamed wild, a campaign was waged to rid the land
of these beasts. With each Dragon killed, a Garnacha vine sprouted in the Dragon's place
and thus D'Aragon has many an Old Vine of Garnacha. |

"Old Vine" Garnacha, 2007
Cariñena |
This Garnacha has a deep cherry color with glints of violet followed by intense aromas of wild blackberries. There is a unique tangerine flavor in this wine, which is common in the Garnacha grapes of Cariñena. Together, the cherry, blackberry, & tangerine flavors weave into a unique balsamic flavor on the palate. |
