Velio (formerly known as Satis) is the work of a winery called Monteflor, an icon in Veneto. Here they
make wine using what are, in effect, barrel selections - picking their favorite tanks of Pinot Grigio for
their freshness, minerality, and fruit. Monteflor's vineyards are littered with fist-sized stones and gravel
deposited by receding glaciers. The air blows cold at night, and the skins of Pinot Grigio ripen perfectly
and imbue their wines with a bracing mineral quality. |
