Chono Wines
Maipo Valley, Chile /
geowines.cl
In the historic Maipo Valley appellation located south of Santiago in Chile's Valle Central, Alvaro
Espinoza's father planted Carménère and Cabernet Sauvignon, with Alvaro adding Syrah later on to
the mix. These grapes now constitute the Chono Winery label. Having studied organic and biodynamic
winemaking in California, including a tenure at Bonterra wines, Espinoza has begun a "biodynamic"
revolution in Chile today focusing on sustainable agriculture practices. Taste the pure fruit expressions of
the wines produced by the foremost viticulturist in South America. |

Syrah, 2006

Concentrated and fruity, with a silkiness that runs from its abundant perfumes to its watch-breaking length, this Syrah is ripe, juicy and chock-full of blackberries and chocolate-dipped red berries. Spicy aromas of black pepper and tar show on the nose. The wine's freshness is dazzling, a nod to the region’s cool climate and careful vinification that captures every bit of pure, unblemished fruit. Tannins are supple and sweet; every drop is polished and wonderfully complex.
