Mayacamas Vineyards
Mayacamas Vineyards, founded in 1889, is a wine estate located in the Mayacamas Mountains which divide the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. The old stone winery is perched on the edge of a dormant volcano crater, near the top of Mt. Veeder. Fifty two acres of vineyards are planted on mountain sides ranging from 1,800 to 2,400 feet above sea level. The winery focuses on limited-production, high-quality varietal wines with bold and distinct flavors. Their storied Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most sought after in California.

2001 Cabernet Sauvignon
(Napa) |
From a well regarded
Cabernet vintage in general, in these parts, this wine has the pleasant
constituent combination that will allow it to be enjoyed with pleasure
when young and also to age well for many years. It should not begin to
decline until at least 2020, if well stored, and may live somewhat
longer. |

2002 Cabernet Sauvignon
(Napa) |
The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is classically balanced in terms of acid and tannin structure. The wine is showing very pure berry varietal character in the nose and revealing its Mt. Veeder origins with side notes of licorice and bay leaf. On the palate, the typical Mayacamas blackberry, black and red cherry, pepper, and mint are all in evidence. Enjoy with all kinds of beef, lamb, and game dishes.
Also available in 375mL and 1.5L bottles. |

1995 "Library Series" Cabernet Sauvignon
(Napa) |
This fine vintage is a prototypical Mayacamas Cabernet, briary in the nose with hints of cherry and raspberry that carry over into the mouth. Enjoyable now, particularly with an hour or more of breathing before service, it will grow in depth and complexity for many years, while still maintaining great richness of fruit. |

|
1999 Merlot (Napa) |
This is a rich, deep,
mountain Merlot, with a bouquet of raspberry, blackberry, smoke, and
roses, with some Mayacamas dust in the background. In the mouth it
develops deep, earthy blackberry and black cherry flavors; decanting is
highly recommended to bring out its full richness. |

2001 Merlot (Napa) |
Mayacamas Merlot 2001 is the tenth one we have released.
When we started bottling with the 1992 vintage, we were not sure that it
would become a permanent fixture with us. But, it obviously is and for
just the reason we had hoped. Its mountain intensity and depth of
character give it the structure to develop in the bottle. Cherry,
tobacco and currant come to mind in the nose and mouth. Delicious now,
it will offer even more in four or five more years. |

|
2003 Chardonnay (Napa) |
This Chardonnay has our usual fresh and slightly lemony
tone with a suggestion of pear, almond and wood. And, as is normal, it
will gain depth and complexity for several more years even though we are
much enjoying it now. |

 |
|
2004 Chardonnay (Napa) |
The 2004 has a bit of fresh lemongrass character in the nose and
the Mayacamas usual light hint of oak. Those facets are complimented by a tart, steely structure in the mouth, followed by faint pineapple nuances. While highly enjoyable now it will, as usual, develop additional richness, viscosity and smoothness for several more years.
Also available in 375mL bottles. |

2004 Pinot Noir (Napa)
|
We usually age our Pinots a little longer than two years but this wine is developing very attractive flavors now so it deserves to see the world. Pinot Noirs go nicely with most traditional red wine dishes, particularly the lighter ones, and also complement salmon and other flavorful seafoods as well. |
