Ghost Block
Nestled on a gently sloping knoll, Ghost Block vineyard is named in honor of Napa's pioneer winemakers who rest in a tiny 150 year-old cemetery on the north edge of Yountville - the epicenter of Napa Valley. Graced with perfect drainage and sunny exposure, Ghost Block Vineyard is a jewel, an heirloom; passed down through a single family for over 100 years. Coveted by celebrity winemakers, the fruit from this and nearby vineyards has been the cornerstone of many of Napa's "Cult Wines." Specializing in Cabernet, all of their vineyards are family-owned and organically certified. Limited availability.

2005 Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
(Oakville, Napa Valley) |
The 2005 vintage has beautiful and elegant aromas of cherry, blackberry, tobacco, spice and roses. On the palate the wine leads into a balanced mouth feel of ripe blackberries with deep dark chocolate and coffee in the mid-palate, to a long and lingering finish of toffee and cherries. Well balanced with great weight and structure. Will cellar well.
93 pts - Wine Spectator: A big, rich, expressive style that's intense and concentrated, with ripe, firm, vibrant black cherry, blackberry, currant, anise and spicy, toasty oak, which adds a nice flavor dimension. Best from 2009 through 2014. 1,700 cases made. (June 30, 2008
